National Safety Council Standard First Aid

This course provides instruction on National Safety Council First Aid and CPR. CPR topics include rescue breathing, choking procedures, and one-rescuer CPR for the adult victim. First Aid topics include emergency care for bleeding, burns, bandages, heat and cold emergencies, diabetes, seizures, and a secondary survey. Upon successful completion, a three-year National Safety Council First Aid Card will be awarded. A two-year CPR card will be issued.Text required.

Accident Prevention/Investigation/Reporting

This course is designed to present the most current information on participating in an accident prevention program including the investigating and reporting of accidents. Instruction will target causal factors of accidents and will focus on events, situations, and conditions that result in work place accidents. Accident prevention will focus on government regulations and standards, ergonomics, personal protective equipment, industrial facility maintenance, equipment safeguarding, and materials handling.

Developing a Safety Program

This course is designed for small business owners and operation managers who are responsible for their company's/organization's safety and health programs. The emphasis of this course is on creating a specific safety program for each participant including the written documentation necessary to remain in compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations.

Hazardous Materials Management

Designed for individuals who use, handle, or manage hazardous materials, this course will provide a detailed regulatory examination of hazardous materials use and control. Class content includes: mass balance concept for hazardous materials, requirements for hazardous materials, emergency preparedness, and hazardous materials program administration. This course will integrate OSHA, EPA, DOT, and Maryland regulations into a single management system. Practical exercises included.

Hazardous Materials Transportation

Information will be presented on Hazardous Material Transportation and the DOT regulations HM181.

Emergency Vehicle Driver Training Program

Major topics covered in the course are safe driving and collision avoidance, Maryland Motor Vehicle statutes, route selection and communications, vehicle inspection and driving preparation, physical forces affecting driving, lights and sirens, basic control tasks, urban driving, negotiating intersections, turnarounds, following and passing vehicles, high-speed driving, dealing with adverse conditions and contingencies, and emergency parking. Methods of instruction include lecture, discussion, classroom exercises, audiovisual material, homework, final written examination and skills check off list. As a prerequisite for the course, the student must hold a currently valid Maryland Motor Vehicle License for the class of vehicle to be driven on the driving range. Program Time: 39 hours

How to Survive an OSHA Inspection (without going bankrupt)

This course is designed for small business owners and managers who must comply with OSHA safety standards. Everyone is in favor of a safe and healthy work place, free from recognized hazards, but how one achieves that is another matter. This course will outline the areas inspectors concentrate on plus provide practical recommendations on how to comply.

MSDS Sheets

This course is designed to instruct the student on the reading and use of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS). Instruction will focus on the information MSDS sheets can contain including types of chemicals and their particular hazards, personal protective equipment that may be required, proper handling procedures, and spill control procedures. Each course is industry specific.

The Safe Use of Oxygen

This course is designed for individuals who may be required to administer oxygen in an emergency situation. Different types of regulators, masks, and demand valves will be discussed.

Trench Excavation Safety Training

The new excavation standard that was published in the Federal Register October 31, 1989, requires companies to have a competent person on the job site who is trained in both standards and hazard recognition. The employee must also have full authorization to remove employees from danger and take prompt corrective action. This course is designed to insure proper understanding of the legal requirements, and in a slide/lecture format, provides directives to the compliance officers. Upper management, supervisory personnel, and field employees will find this course informative.

Organizing and training safety teams involving management and employee participation; working together as a team solving safety problems on the shop floor in an actively caring environment, reducing incidents, lost work day cases and the cost of workmen's compensation. Time will vary with your companies requirements.
