John has been a Firefighter for 17 years and an elected officer for 13 of those years. He has been a Chief Officer for 6 years, and Chief the last three. Serving on the board of directors Darlington Volunteer Fire Company for six years as a Chief Officer, he was involved in the purchasing of equipment and had direct purchase authority for the last three years. John’s current certifications include Nationally Certified FF II, Confined Space Rescue Technician, EMT-B, MFRI Haz Mat Operations, MFRI Rescue Technician, MFRI Rescue Specialist, and Vehicle and Machinery Rescue Technician. He currently service as a MFRI Swift Water Rescue technician as well. He is an active member of the Darlington Volunteer Fire Company's Swift Water/Flood Rescue team and has served as part of the command staff of that group. John’s activities also include being an active member of the Darlington Swift Water Strike Team for the Harford County Technical Rescue Team.
