Program Description
This course is to familiarize and to provide children ages 8 to 10 with basic skills, training, and information that can help them when an emergency situation arises. This program will teach them about poison control including look alike drugs and common household chemicals; fire safety and fire causes; what actions to take for injuries such as cuts, scrapes, bruises, insect stings, sprains, strains, and burns; what to do for a nosebleed or knocked-out tooth; personal safety; animal control and pet safety; water safety. One class will be devoted to parents and children discussing home safety including creating a fire escape plan, selecting a meeting place when parents and children get separated in an emergency; and child-proofing a home.
